Our city needs strong knowledgeable leadership especially during this economic and public safety crisis that our city faces. It is not time to train new individuals – it is time to deal with critical issues that our community has identified with experienced leaders willing to take bold action!I am the only candidate for Oakland City Council District 5 that has significant years of elected official experience, many community and business relationships in District 5 and Oakland; I have strong partnerships with other government leaders at the federal, state, county, and key agencies like BART, AC Transit, EBMUD, Oakland Housing Authority and the Port of Oakland.
I have been rooted in Oakland and I am fully committed to serving the city full-time.
My Priorities continue to be:
Public Safety
Accountable policing, fire and ambassador safety services. Increasing visible responsive neighborhood, vehicular and pedestrian safety services. Advocating for more enforcement and partnerships with other law enforcement agencies. Continue to consistently vote for additional funds for law enforcement, Support Oakland residents and businesses with strong public safety advocacy.
Clean & Safe Neighborhoods
I will continue my District 5 Office’s daily District beautification efforts, which include blight removal, reporting of abandoned cars, requesting MACRO assistance for needy individuals, reporting of graffiti, prostitution, and other criminal activities as shared by residents and businesses.
Economic Development and Housing
Advocate for additional housing production, work on the immediate delivery of more effective and compassionate homeless services; continue to support schools; push for infrastructure and parks improvements. Support existing businesses by ensuring responsive city and other government agencies services. I will continue to support new private investment in District 5 and Oakland that offer good jobs and business opportunities for Oakland residents and businesses.
Community Partnerships
I will work with other City leaders to develop a higher standard of fiscal accountability to ensure that Oakland's limited resources benefit all. We need to deal with the City of Oakland’s deficit now.
I will continue to promote community involvement – this involves educational partners, non-profit community organizations, businesses, and neighborhood leaders and residents - it is through collective action, changes are made.
