Councilmember Noel Gallo and Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan cruised through Oakland District 5 neighborhoods to promote COVID-19 safety, distribute masks and encourage residents to complete Census and register to vote. The caravan was led by the Oakland Fire Department Parade Engine Truck, and many community organizations, such as: Native American Health Center, City of Oakland, The Unity Council, and the U.S. Census Bureau.
The Car Caravan was accompanied by two information booth locations that provided voter registration, Census 2020 sign up assistance, information about City services, and distribution of COVID safety kits. Along the caravan route, community volunteers were at key street corners distributing masks and testing information.
6000 masks, hand sanitizers, and flyers with testing information were distributed!
